Commercial Flagpoles

How to Select the Correct Commercial Flag Poles.
Commercial Flagpoles & Windspeed
:
Badgerland flags sells commercial flagpoles in sizes from twenty to eighty feet. The design of safe commercial flagpoles requires knowledge of the loads to which they will be subjected. Principal load acting on commerical flagpoles is wind load and that load must be carefully determined. Maximum wind speeds to which commercial flagpoles are exposed depends on geographic location, weather and placement (is it in the center of a large city, a small town outskirts, seashore or ground level or on the roof of a high building.)

Wind speeds also becomes great as height above ground increases. Wind exerts a force on the pole as well as the flag, thus both loads must be added to determine total load. Please refer to Badgerland Flags commercial flagpole windspeed chart to determine the maximum speed for your area.

It is important that when selecting your commercial flagpole that you choose a commerical flappole capable of supporting the largest flag you intend to fly in the highest wind speed. On each of our commerical flagpole pages  we've created a chart to help you determine which model you need. If you have any difficulty in selecting, please contact one of our customer service consultants at 715-325-0015 to help you select the best commercial flagpole for you.

Commercial Flagpole Halyard Systems
There are two types of halyard systems used for commercial flagpoles, internal and external. (A Halyard system is the rope and pulley system used to raise and lower a flag.).

External halyard systems are as they sound, they are external to the flagpole. With this arrangement, the flag is attached to a rope, which is looped through a pulley wheel at the top of the pole. Internal halyard systems are internal to the commercial flagpole and the drive system is located in the flagpole shaft. Internal halyard systems provide greater security (and less clanking). Badgerland's commercial flagpoles have both types of halyard systems.
